AUTHOR'S NOTE: This last week of 2010 I am highlighting my 5 best photographs of 2010. I hope you enjoy a week of remembering back as I re-take you through my journey of chasing the light through 2010. These are in no particular order. Enjoy!__________________________
This photo was made early in 2010. I am always on the lookout for interesting and dramatic clouds and am still amazed to what they can add to a scene. The clouds in this shot had been building for several hours and I patiently waited until they were just right.
The black and white treatment on this photograph enhances the drama nicely.
What I think is equally interesting about this shot is the location. This photograph was made in a suburb outside of Denver, CO. You would never know it from looking at this scene.
Just goes to show you that photographs can tell interesting stories. They may not always be accurate, but interesting nonetheless.
This photo is one of three that was selected for inclusion in ‘My Colorado’ Juried Show in February.
This photograph is part of a limited edition of 100. It is available for purchase here.

This photo is of Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Many people ask me why I choose to shoot mainly nature and wildlife. This photograph is a good example of why.
As the fall colors really came into their peak this past fall, I decided to wade out into the lake to get the reflection of the rock along with the stillness of the water. Yes, I was actually in the lake.
There is a majestic power about being in a setting like this. Where I do not know that a single photograph can do it justice, my hope was to try to capture some of that majesty in this shot.
Pretty easy to be a nature photographer when you have scenes like this in your backyard...

There is always some element of magic when the light first hits the landscape in the morning. This is a photograph of the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. and a wonderful place to be during sunrise. The already red rocks, which make up the Garden of the Gods look like they are on fire as the first light hits them.
I was fortunate enough to be there for sunrise while the moon was still out. As a result, I was able to make the photograph you see above. This interim between darkness and light does not happen all the time. It was nice to be there and experience the moon being put to bed as the day began in Colorado Springs.

Mother Nature can do some impressive things. This photograph is a good example of that.
This is a photograph made on the Fourth of July outside of Frisco, CO. The vantage point this photograph was made from is the same spot where I shoot the annual fireworks display of the City of Frisco.
As I was setting up for the evening festivities, a massive thunderstorm was building overhead. The mountains you see in this shot represent the Continental Divide. Not all storms make it over the Divide. As the weather system continued to build as it attempted to conquer the Divide, the system had generated some spectacular clouds.
This photograph serves as a reminder of how nasty Mother Nature can be. This storm eventually made it over the Divide and forced many in the Denver Metro area to alter their holiday plans as a result.

This is a photo made during the 49th Annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. This was the last day of this year’s festival and I was there for what they refer to as Dawn Patrol.
The balloons created a really interesting scene as the sun began to make itself known over the Sandia Mountains to the East of the Balloon Grounds in Albuquerque.
Because of the light from the balloons, this was a hand held shot for those of you curious about such things. This really was a great way to end the Balloon Fiesta.
